Almost $3 million in access to healthcare has been provided to Salt Lake County residents since 2003. Nearly 18,000 men, women, and children have received access to primary care, prenatal services, and ancillary services since our inception five years ago. As the number of uninsured, underinsured, and underrepresented Utahns continues to grow each year, the need for UPFH services will escalate in the immediate future. Our unique model of care allows us to provide $5.12 in access to direct healthcare for every $1.00 donated to our organization. The Uninsured in Utah
The number of uninsured Americans continues to increase. In Utah, lack of affordable healthcare is a top concern and one of the leading causes of bankruptcy for working families. Hundreds of thousands of Utahns do not have access to care because they are uninsured, underinsured, or underrepresented. Utah Partners for Health enthusiastically provides a unique solution to this problem to help improve the lives of thousands of low-income individuals each year. By providing access to primary care for those who otherwise would not be able to seek services elsewhere, UPFH is building a healthier community for Salt Lake County?s neighborhoods and families.
A Successful Model
Our healthcare access model is unique because we work within existing for-profit healthcare clinics and therefore do not have to pay for buildings, supplies, utilities, or medical staff. Our volunteer licensed healthcare providers are some of the best providers in Utah and donate an average of 67% of their customary billing charges to UPFH to allow for the greatest benefit from every dollar donated to the organization.
Why Provide Care to the Uninsured?
Finding and curing a sickness or disease in the early stages is a major advantage. Scientific research demonstrates that people without health insurance are sicker longer and die longer. Utah Partners for Health serves young families, single parents, the elderly, immigrants, and other medically underserved population within Salt Lake County. In many cases, these individuals are our neighbors, friends, and others in the community who are caught in the gap of not having insurance and therefore avoid seeking healthcare. UPFH delivers access to healthcare to those who do not qualify for federal or state programs, do not have healthcare access through their employers, or are otherwise denied access to to healthcare within their communities.
