I am an uninsured male who found an enlarging sore on my neck. I work hard, but I don't have a high paying job, so me and my family watch our finances closely. I can't afford to spend money I don't have on doctor's bills. Through Utah Partners for Health, I was finally convinced to go see a doctor. It turns out that I had skin cancer. One of the volunteer doctors at Utah Partners for Health removed the tumor and saved my life. Thank you Utah Partners for Health. – James, 58-year-old
I am a mother of three without health insurance. My husband makes $28,000 a year, enough to support our family, but not enough for us to afford to go to the doctor whenever we feel sick. I had a little "cold" that turned into a cough, which then turned into pneumonia. I was very sick but didn't know what to do to avoid paying a big medical bill. A friend told me about the Info 211 hotline and I was referred to Utah Partners for Health. Today, I am well and back to being a healthy, full-time mom. – Cassidy
I am a single woman who has immigrated to the United States. For months I didn't feel right. I was losing weight and was constantly tired. Then I became unable to work at my restaurant job. I was seen in the Utah Partners for Health mobile medical clinic and it was quickly discovered that my glucose level was 495. I had diabetes. Since that time, I have been seen several times in a clinic setting by UPFH to manage my diabetes. Today I am feeling great and learning how to manage my illness. – Rayna, 34-year-old
I am married with two children, one with asthma. My husband and I both work 40 hours a week making minimum wage by washing dishes in a restaurant. We don't qualify for Medicaid because we make too much money. My son and I came in yesterday and he was having obvious trouble with his asthma. We were able to get my son immediate medical care, including breathing treatments. Thank you Utah Partners for Health! - Karen, 32-year-old
I am a mother of six and my husband and I are self-employed in the housing industry. We have never been able to afford health insurance, but have been able to cope with various medical issues with home remedies and over-the-counter medicines. In March, I discovered a lump in my breast. My biggest fear was what I should do about it. How was I going to pay for the potential medical bills? I was in a sweat over the possibility of my children losing our home to future medical bills. My first ray of hope came when I was referred to Utah Partners for Health. Utah Partners for Health gave me access to a medical doctor the same day that I called. I met with Dr. Spencer who immediately discovered that I indeed had a suspicious lump. It turns out I had a 3-centimeter tumor and was able to get my surgery scheduled and done within three weeks. I am feeling very good now, and am waiting for further oncology tests on my tumor. - Anonymous
